Accepting Nominations for PALS Board of Directors for 2017-2018 School Year

Want to be more involved at Lincoln but don’t know how?  Want to improve your children’s experience at Lincoln?  Want to socialize more with other Lincoln families?  If you answer yes to any of these questions, then Lincoln has a solution for you!  Nominate yourself for the PALS’ Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 school year.

 

PALS stands for Parents And Lincoln Staff, and is a free-to-join, non-profit 501(c)3 parent and teacher organization.   Its purpose is to…

  • Secure the highest advantages in physical, emotional, and social development for Lincoln students by developing a united effort between educators and the general public.
  • Promote the welfare of children at Lincoln.
  • Raise funds to be used for the enrichment of Lincoln’s educational programs.

 

Throughout each school year, PALS Board of Directors and general members meet on a monthly basis.  During these meetings, PALS organizes several events to foster community awareness and raise funds for the school.  Such events include the Walk-a-thon, See’s Candy Fundraiser, Breakfast with Santa, and the Spell-a-thon.

 

To nominate yourself for one of the Board of Directors positions for the 2017-2018 school year, please notify PALS via email at lincolnpalsclub@gmail.com.  If you have any questions regarding responsibilities that any of these positions requires, please email PALS at lincolnpalsclub@gmail.com.  Refer to the table below for a brief description of each position and term length.

  • Maintain current contact lists of PALS members and committees

  • Manage affairs of PALS
  • Act on recommendations presented at PALS meetings and/or by staff
  • Create and approve annual budget

Nominations will be accepted until March 8th.  Voting for the PALS Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 school year will occur during the April 12th PALS meeting.  The newly elected Board of Directors will begin their term of service in August 2017 but are requested to attend the May 10th PALS meeting (the last of the school year).

 

 

Who we are and what we do

PALS stands for Parents And Lincoln Staff and is an organization consisting of parents and staff members who work together to enrich the educational experience of students at Lincoln Elementary School. 

Our purpose is to…

·    Secure the highest advantages in physical, emotional, and social development for Lincoln Elementary School students by developing a united effort between educators and the general public.
·    Promote the welfare of children at Lincoln Elementary School.
·    Raise funds for the enrichment of Lincoln Elementary School’s educational programs.
 

Membership

Any parent or legal guardian of a child attending Lincoln Elementary School is eligible to become a member of PALS. In addition, any staff member of Lincoln Elementary School or any student who actively serves on the Lincoln Elementary School’s Leadership Committee can also join.
There are no membership fees associated with becoming a member of PALS. Members are encouraged to attend as many PALS meetings as possible in order to provide input and make decisions on various activities sponsored by PALS. Members are also requested to volunteer for activities throughout the school year in order for PALS-sponsored events to be successful.

 

Meetings

PALS members meet on a monthly basis during the school year. Meetings occur on the second Wednesday of the month; begin at 6:30 PM, and are usually one hour in length.   Meetings are located in the Lincoln Elementary School’s Staff Lounge. For prior agendas and minutes, please contact the PALS Secretary.
